Happy 146th birthday Perre Cérésole!

The 146th birthday day of Pierre Ceresole has been observed by SCI India, West Bengal State Group, with immense joy and excitement!
On 17th August evening we had a special evening retrospecting the life of Pierre Ceresole in presence of our local group members. More than 50 members of the group participated in this event.

We also had a theme “Let’s create a Community for Peace” as we decided to make our group stronger. Prof. Rathindranath Chaudhuri Inaugurated the occasion by lighting the lamp. A brief cultural function followed.

Then ladies members cut the birthday day cake and Tapas Kumar Sur spoke about Pierre Ceresole’s life and the intense endeavours he initiated for peace building all through his life. He also mentioned that the focus of this evening’s gathering is to form a COMMUNITY for Culture of Peace.
Prof. Rathindranath Chaudhuri, president of the group and Dr. Debasis Mukherjee spoke on the theme.
Partha Sarathi Biswas, West Bengal State Group Secretary explained the International Website of SCI for new members. He focused on different projects in the international level where we can participate.

Tapas assured that in the next meeting on 21st. September, International Peace Day will discuss the SCI objectives and activities in more depth.
The two hours’ event concluded with an exciting quiz competition led by Mr. Bikash Chal and Miss. Srija Bhattacharya.
